Usually on Thursdays, we post a lot of news and send out an e-Alert. But today there just isn't much worth posting.
That's because newspapers today put their depleted resources into covering what's popular -- sports, politics, and celebrities -- instead of complicated public-policy issues. They're taking a cue from readers; that seems to be what the public wants.
That's where we come in. Our reporting fills gaps and explains matters that get short shrift elsewhere.
On Friday, we'll post at least one original article, from Tallahassee correspondent Christine Jordan Sexton. She writes the story of an elderly woman who has spent the past three years doggedly trying to get her money back from a dentist she accused of cheating her.
It's a fun read. Look for it.
Each original article we publish costs us an average of $500. Please help us pay our reporters by making a tax-deductible donation.
Here's how to contribute. Thank you!
