If ever there was a great day to read our news service, today is it. We have two days' worth of important and intriguing stories summarized and packaged for you.
Just look at the left-hand side of our home page. Interspersed with the heavy-duty important stuff -- PSA screening, heads rolling at UM, killer fungicide and face transplants -- are the stories that we post because they are irresistible.
What kind of nurse would withhold a kid's inhaler? What kind of doctor would sue a patient for criticizing him?
If these stories spur you to comment, please go to our Facebook page and comment to your heart's content, short of libel. If you make interesting points, we'll repost them as Letters to the Editor on our opinion page.
Meanwhile, back on our home page, don't make the mistake of just looking at the top three news stories on the left side, the ones most people can see without scrolling (in newspaper lingo, we called it "above the fold"). Below are some wonderful reads from Tuesday.
We're trying to make our space do double-duty these days. You can see more headlines in a quick glance and decide which ones to read.
We also send out fewer e-Alerts, combining two or three days' worth of the best stories. That makes for fewer e-mails in your inbox.
(If you have not subscribed to the free e-Alert, you really should. It's easy to read on a phone and sometimes carries ads that might interest you, such as a notice of a seminar).
Also, we're going to start reaching out to our subscribers with invitations to get-togethers around the state. You don't want to miss that. (To subscribe, look at the upper right corner of the home page and click on the "e".)
Please write or call when you have an idea of how we can improve our service, or if you have a fund-raising idea to help support our reporting. Many thanks!
